System Preferences - Dock
The dock is your main navigation tool for opening applications and folders. Here in the System preferences you can customize it to suit your needs. The first choice is the size, which you can make smaller or bigger. The next choice is magnification, which if you check this box, it will magnify each icon as you scroll over it. This helps if you have a lot of icons and your dock is small or if you have a small screen. You can also position the dock on the left bottom or right of your screen. Minimize refers to how it looks when you minimize a window. Animate opening applications is useful because it lets you know that you have successfully opened an application. Automatically hide and show dock will hide the dock if you’d like, and it reappears when you mouse over it. This feature is useful if you have a small screen, such as a laptop, or dislike looking at all those icons on your desktop.
