Applications
Applications are software programs that perform certain tasks. Your computer comes with many applications already installed and you can also add more. Let’s take a look at the applications folder. As your computer skills grow, you will discover a world of applications for just about anything you’d want to do. To open an application just double-click on its’ icon. Let's open Stickies, which is a digital version of a Post-it note. Now that the application is open you can see that is says Stickies in the menu bar and now all of the menu items refer to the Stickies application. The Stickies icon is now in the dock. This lets me know that the application is open. To quit out of an application you can go to application menu and select quit, or you can go to the dock and click and hold on the icon, when the menu pops up, select quit. Or you can simply use the keyboard shortcut, apple Q.
